Thank you for choosing The Seal Guys. We pride ourselves on delivering premium remedial sealing and epoxy re-grouting services using industry-leading products, quality workmanship, and professional care.

This guide explains your warranty coverage, aftercare requirements, and important terms relating to completed works. Our goal is simple: to provide a long-lasting, high-quality result while being transparent about what is covered, what is not covered, and how to best care for your newly treated area.

By accepting our quotation and proceeding with works, you acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined in this Warranty & Care Guide.

1. Our 10-Year Warranty

10-Year Warranty on Our Epoxy Re-Grouting Work

The Seal Guys provides a 10-Year Warranty on eligible epoxy re-grouting work completed by our team. The warranty applies for 10 years from the completion date and only to the specific surfaces and areas treated by The Seal Guys.

Covered where caused by a defect in our work:

  • ✓ Epoxy grout adhesion failure caused by incorrect installation
  • ✓ Water penetration through treated grout joints caused directly by failure of our epoxy grout work
  • ✓ Cracking, separation, or debonding caused by a workmanship defect under normal use
  • ✓ Mould caused directly by failure of the treated epoxy grout
  • ✓ All areas treated as part of an agreed full shower re-grouting scope

If a potential covered issue arises during the 10-year period, The Seal Guys will assess it and, where the warranty applies, rectify the affected work within a reasonable time. The exclusions below explain circumstances outside the treated epoxy grout system that are not covered.

2. How Epoxy Re-Grouting Works

Epoxy grout is a highly water-resistant grouting material designed to assist in sealing tiled grout joints and significantly reduce water ingress through tiled surfaces.

For many leaking showers and balconies, deteriorated grout joints and failed seal lines are a common cause of water ingress, and epoxy re-grouting can be a highly effective remedial solution.

Important: Epoxy re-grouting is not a replacement for a compliant waterproof membrane system installed in accordance with applicable Australian building standards. If water ingress is caused by hidden defects outside the treated grout system, such as failed waterproofing membranes, concealed plumbing leaks, structural movement, drainage defects, or other building-related issues, further rectification may be required.

Our recommendations are based on the visible conditions and findings at the time of inspection.

3. What This Warranty Applies To

This warranty applies specifically to epoxy re-grouting works completed by The Seal Guys. It does not automatically extend to separate services, unrelated building components, or works not specifically included within the epoxy re-grouting scope.

Separate Works That May Carry Different Warranty Terms:

Shower screen replacement, plumbing works, waterproofing replacement, demolition works, bathroom rebuilds, balcony rebuilds, tile replacement, drainage rectification, leak detection services, roof repairs, remedial building works, and restoration works.

4. Pre-Work Preparation Requirements

Shower Areas

For shower works, the shower area must remain completely dry for a minimum of 24 hours prior to our arrival. This is essential to ensure proper adhesion and curing of the epoxy grout system. If the area has been recently used and remains damp, installation quality may be affected and works may need to be rescheduled.

5. Aftercare Requirements

Proper aftercare is essential to ensure the best long-term performance of your newly completed works.

Shower Areas

  • • Do not use the shower for a minimum of 24 hours
  • • 48 hours recommended for best long-term curing performance
  • • No water exposure
  • • No steam exposure
  • • No cleaning during the curing period

Balcony Areas

  • • Protect from rain for a minimum of 24 hours (48 hours recommended)
  • • Avoid foot traffic where practical
  • • Do not clean the area
  • • Keep all drainage points clear
  • • Prevent standing water accumulation

Approved Cleaning Methods (After Curing)

  • • Soft broom
  • • Soft mop
  • • pH-neutral cleaning products only

Cleaning Methods to Avoid

  • • Pressure washing or high-pressure cleaners
  • • Acidic cleaning products
  • • Bleach and harsh chemicals
  • • Abrasive scrubbing
  • • Solvent-based cleaners

6. Warranty Exclusions

Our warranty is designed to cover the workmanship of the epoxy re-grouting works completed by The Seal Guys. Because water ingress and building defects can originate from a variety of unrelated sources, the warranty does not extend to issues outside the treated grout system.

Structural Movement

Structural settlement, slab movement, expansion, contraction, thermal movement, vibration, substrate movement, and tile movement. Movement-related cracking caused by structural or substrate movement is not considered a workmanship defect.

Waterproofing Membrane Issues

Failed, damaged, aged, deteriorated, non-compliant, or absent waterproof membranes.

Plumbing-Related Leaks

Burst pipes, leaking taps, leaking shower mixers, concealed plumbing leaks, drainage leaks, sewer leaks, leaking balcony penetrations, and pipe failures.

External Water Ingress

Roof leaks, window leaks, wall leaks, adjoining properties, penetrations, slab penetrations, condensation, and rising damp.

Drainage Issues

Blocked drains, inadequate drainage design, poor falls, negative falls, ponding water, and overflowing drainage.

Shower Screens / Doors

Failed shower screens, damaged seals, splash leakage, water escaping around doors, and frame leakage.

Pre-Existing or Hidden Defects

Loose, cracked, or damaged tiles; concealed waterproofing failures; hidden moisture damage; deteriorated substrates; damaged screeds; concealed plumbing defects; rotten framing; damaged building materials; latent structural defects; and hidden construction defects.

Cosmetic Changes

Normal cosmetic changes over time, including grout discolouration, staining, mould staining, natural ageing, and minor surface wear.

Maintenance-Related Damage

Improper cleaning, bleach, acid-based products, harsh chemicals, abrasive scrubbing, pressure washing, blocked drains, poor maintenance, and poor ventilation.

7. Silicone & Flexible Joints

Flexible sealants and silicone joints are considered maintenance items. Like all building sealants, they naturally age over time due to movement, moisture exposure, cleaning, UV exposure, and normal wear and tear.

Where silicone works are included, workmanship defects are covered; however, normal ageing and deterioration over time are not considered defects.

8. Third-Party Alterations

This warranty may not apply where the treated area has been altered, repaired, modified, re-sealed, pressure cleaned, or interfered with by any third party without prior written approval from The Seal Guys. This ensures any issue can be fairly assessed based on the original completed works.

9. Warranty Claim Process

A claim may be made at any time during the 10-year warranty period. Contact us as soon as practical after noticing an issue so we can assess it before further damage or third-party alteration occurs.

1

Contact The Seal Guys

Provide a description of the issue and photos where possible.

2

Provide Access

Allow reasonable access so our team can inspect and assess the treated area.

3

Avoid Third-Party Repairs

Please avoid arranging third-party repairs before inspection so a fair assessment can be completed.

10. Important Warranty Note

This warranty applies specifically to the epoxy re-grouting workmanship completed by The Seal Guys. While epoxy re-grouting is a highly effective remedial solution in many situations, water ingress can sometimes originate from hidden or unrelated defects outside the treated area. Where issues arise from causes unrelated to the completed epoxy re-grouting works, additional rectification may be required.
