Shower Regrouting & Leaking Shower Repair in Northern & Western Suburbs, Melbourne

Last updated: October 2026 · Written by Hervé, Head Installer (15+ years in epoxy grouting and waterproofing)

The Seal Guys service Melbourne's Northern & Western Suburbs for shower and balcony epoxy regrouting and resealing, usually without removing tiles. If failed grout or silicone is letting water through shower joints, we remove it and replace it with Mapei Kerapoxy epoxy grout and new sealant. Shower repairs start from $650 + GST, and we will explain if the signs suggest a plumbing, membrane or structural issue instead of a surface repair. Last updated: October 2026.

Suburbs we cover

We cover Richmond, Fitzroy, Fitzroy North, Northcote, Thornbury, Brunswick, Brunswick East, Moonee Ponds, Epping, Doreen, Montmorency, Kensington, Maribyrnong, Point Cook, Werribee and Caroline Springs. Send photos of the shower or balcony, including grout, silicone and visible water damage, so we can assess whether regrouting and resealing appears suitable.

Homes and bathroom issues across the north and west

The Northern & Western Suburbs include period and post-war houses, brick units, apartment buildings, townhouses and newer estate homes. Older bathrooms may have original or previously repaired tiled showers, while apartments and townhouses can have compact shower enclosures and tiled balconies. In newer homes, grout and silicone can still deteriorate around screens and plumbing penetrations. Home age alone does not identify a leak source.

Common signs include cracked, missing or darkened grout, failed silicone at wall-to-floor junctions, mould that returns after cleaning, loose tiles near the base, damp paint on an adjoining wall or staining below an upstairs bathroom. They can indicate surface entry or a problem beneath the tiles, so the cause needs assessment.

How shower regrouting and resealing works

A shower surface repair removes deteriorated grout and failed silicone from relevant joints. We prepare the joints, apply Mapei Kerapoxy epoxy grout between tiles, and reseal corners, wall-to-floor junctions and other movement areas as quoted. Epoxy grout fills tile joints; flexible silicone is used where surfaces meet and move. Suitable showers can be repaired without tile removal.

Epoxy grout is non-porous and does not need sealing, but it does not replace a failed waterproof membrane beneath tiles. New silicone closes surface junctions but cannot correct plumbing leaks or substrate failure. If the condition points beyond a surface repair, we will say so before booking.

Shower regrouting prices

These are starting prices for common layouts. The final scope depends on tiled area, tile size, the condition of existing grout and silicone, and preparation required.

3 wall showerfrom $1,450 + GST

For a photo quote, send the full shower, affected joints and silicone, plus any damp patch or damage outside it. For balconies, include the threshold, perimeter, drain and any area below where water has appeared.

When balcony regrouting may help

Tiled balconies can allow water in through deteriorated grout, perimeter sealant, thresholds, drains and balustrade-post penetrations. Regrouting and resealing may suit failed surface entry points. It does not replace the membrane beneath tiles or fix drainage, widespread loose tiles or structural damage. Dry conditions are needed, and apartment owners should check owners corporation requirements.

Northern & Western Suburbs regrouting FAQs

Can you repair a leaking shower without removing tiles?

Often, yes. If water is entering through failed grout or silicone, removing those materials and replacing them with epoxy grout and new silicone can repair the shower surface without tile removal. It is not the right repair for every leak, particularly where there is an underlying membrane, drainage, structural or plumbing problem.

Which Northern and Western Suburbs do you service?

We service Richmond, Fitzroy, Fitzroy North, Northcote, Thornbury, Brunswick, Brunswick East, Moonee Ponds, Epping, Doreen, Montmorency, Kensington, Maribyrnong, Point Cook, Werribee and Caroline Springs. We also service greater Melbourne.

How do I know whether my shower leak is plumbing or grout?

Cracked grout and failed silicone can indicate a surface entry point. Dampness when the shower has not been used, or an unexplained increase in water use, can suggest a plumbing issue. Photos can help with an initial assessment, and a plumber may need to investigate first where plumbing is suspected.

How much does shower regrouting cost?

Shower base repairs start from $650 + GST. The final price depends on the shower layout, tile size, existing grout condition and the scope of resealing required. A photo quote can confirm whether the repair is suitable and what is included.

Send photos for a fixed quote

Send a photo of the whole shower or balcony and a close-up of the grout. We assess the visible condition and explain whether regrouting and resealing are suitable.
