Shower and balcony repairs across the Eastern Suburbs
A leaking shower is not always a tiling problem. Water can enter through cracked grout, worn silicone at wall-to-floor junctions, shower-screen gaps or openings around fittings. Regrouting and resealing focus on those accessible surface joints without removing tiles.

Homes and bathrooms in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs
The Eastern Suburbs has established period and post-war homes, brick units, apartments, townhouses and newer family homes. Bathrooms range from original tiled rooms and later renovations to contemporary ensuites with large-format tiles, frameless screens and multiple wet-area junctions. A home's age alone does not identify a leak's cause.
Older bathrooms can have cracked, missing or hard-to-clean cement grout and silicone that has split, detached or discoloured. In renovated bathrooms, corners, screen connections and tap penetrations also need sound seals. In units and apartments, moisture marks on an adjoining wall or ceiling below may relate to the shower, plumbing or another building issue.
Photos of the whole shower, grout, silicone and any damage outside it help assess the likely scope. An inspection may be needed if the cause is unclear or there are signs of a problem beneath the tiles.
How we approach a leaking shower
We look at grout, silicone, tile edges, shower-screen junctions and visible penetrations. Cracked grout and failed silicone can suggest surface water entry. Dampness when the shower has not been used, or an unexplained higher water bill, can instead indicate a plumbing issue that a plumber should check first.
When epoxy regrouting is appropriate, deteriorated grout is removed rather than covered. Joints are cleaned and filled with Mapei Kerapoxy epoxy grout, which is non-porous and does not need sealing. Silicone is used separately at corners, wall-to-floor junctions and around screens.

Epoxy regrouting and resealing compared with deeper repairs
Cement grout is porous and can absorb water and staining. Epoxy grout is more resistant to water, staining and mould, which is why we use Mapei Kerapoxy. Neither replaces waterproofing beneath tiles.

Eastern Suburbs regrouting FAQs
Do you service all of Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs?
We service Camberwell, Hawthorn, Kew, Balwyn, Doncaster, Mont Albert North, Box Hill, Glen Waverley, Mulgrave, Rowville, Wantirna, Ringwood and Boronia. We also cover greater Melbourne; a travel fee may apply outside the metro area.
Can a leaking shower be repaired without removing tiles?
Often, yes, when water is entering through failed surface grout or silicone. Epoxy regrouting and new silicone can address those joints without tile removal. It is not suitable for every leak, including plumbing, membrane, drainage or below-tile problems.
Do I need shower regrouting or silicone replacement?
Grout fills joints between tiles. Silicone seals corners, wall-to-floor junctions and screens where surfaces meet and move. If grout is sound and the issue is failed silicone, silicone replacement may be appropriate.
How much does shower regrouting cost in the Eastern Suburbs?
Shower base regrouting starts from $650 + GST, 2-wall shower regrouting from $1,250 + GST, 3-wall shower regrouting from $1,450 + GST and walk-in shower regrouting from $1,650 + GST. Silicone replacement only starts from $450 + GST.
Can you repair a leaking tiled balcony?
Tiled balcony regrouting and resealing may suit failed surface grout, perimeter sealant, thresholds, drains or penetrations. It does not replace a failed waterproof membrane or resolve poor drainage, widespread loose tiles or structural damage. Photos help identify whether a surface repair is appropriate.
Send photos for a fixed quote
Send a photo of the whole shower or balcony and a close-up of the grout. We assess the visible condition and explain whether regrouting and resealing are suitable.
